Why Rotterdam?

Rediscover this innovation-driven city

The peripatetic nature of UDT takes it to a range of cities within Western Europe. The impact of Covid-19 has meant that we have been unable to host the event since 2019, so we are very excited to bring this community back together in the Netherlands this June.

Rotterdam below the surface

Leading into the North Sea, Rotterdam is a key waypoint for major European shipping lanes and a strategic location for access to many types of energy resource,  including the world’s first off-shore wind farm. As a result, the so-called ‘Gateway to Europe’ has a long history of geopolitical significance which continues today with the increased focus on activities in the Arctic Circle.

This makes Rotterdam a great choice for UDT 2022, where the maritime community will discuss cooperation and technological developments around the protection of maritime trade and infrastructure.

Extend your visit

Why not explore the host nation once the exhibition is over? With a combination of rich history, breathtaking architecture and sophisticated shopping options, Rotterdam makes for an interesting visit. You can also easily access other popular destinations in the Netherlands using local transport or its surrounding nations via a direct flight from the Rotterdam The Hague Airport.

Whether you are there for the three day show or you plan to stay longer, the region has plenty to offer.
