Dr Aaron Roberts

Aaron Roberts received the B.Sc. degree in Psychology and the Ph.D. degree in Applied Cognitive Psychology from the University of Liverpool, Liverpool, U.K., in 2007 and 2012, respectively. Aaron has previously held roles as a Senior Technician in a neuroscience laboratory at the University of Plymouth and as Senior Research Fellow in Human Factors at the University of Southampton. Aaron is a Chartered Psychologist (of the British Psychological Society) and Chartered Human Factors practitioner (of the Chartered Institute of Ergonomics & Human Factors) with 15 years of experience evaluating complex military systems from a sociotechnical systems perspective across multiple domains. Aaron has expertise evaluating the physiological and cognitive state of humans operating in situations of increased demand or threat. He has examined the cognitive function of paramedics, pilots, submariners, fire service personnel, police officers and nurses in simulated operational environments. Aaron has an extensive publication record in world leading academic journals contributing to knowledge of applied cognition, physiology, trust in automation, simulation fidelity, sociotechnical system design and Human Factors. Since 2019, Aaron has held the role of Senior Operability expert within Thales UK. In this role he is focused on providing Human Factors expertise to the design, integration, test and evaluation of military systems in the Maritime domain.
