Naval Sales Director, GE Vernova’s Power Conversion

Ben Salter is the Naval Sales Director for GE’s Power Conversion business.  In this role he has global responsibility for GE’s proposals to meet the electric propulsion needs of the world’s navies for new build and service support.  These solutions stretch from ultra low noise hybrid propulsion for ASW, through high efficiency, high speed hybrid, potentially coupled to energy storage solutions, right through to IFEP systems for front line warships and submarines. 

Ben has been with the company for over 35 years.  In previous roles he was the Naval Technical Solutions Director and before that the GE Programme Manager for the Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carrier Project having already held the role of Functional Integration Lead for the whole Power and Propulsion system.  Prior to this Ben held the role of Chief Engineer for the Airports division of the company and started his career in industrial power systems, control and automation.

Ben brings with him a wealth of industry knowledge, with a specific focus on the control and management of high power electrical systems, particularly when combined with power converters and motors in the Naval environment, both surface and sub-surface. 

Ben has a Bachelor’s degree in Electronic and Electrical Engineering from Sheffield University, is a Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of the Institute of Engineering & Technology (FIET).
