CDR Bernd Arjes
Commander Bernd Arjes joined the German Navy in 1995 as a conscript and started his career as officer candidate in 1996.
Having achieved the Diplom-Ingenieur degree in mechanical engineering at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Hamburg, Cdr Arjes chose the operations branch as his career path and qualified as submarine Officer of the Watch in 2003.He has worked in several positions on board submarines and was commanding officer of the German submarine U32 (U212A). Cdr Arjes acted as teacher and trainer in the Submarine Training Centre and also as underwater warfare officer of German Flotilla 1. From 2015 to 2017 he was in charge for international cooperations and relations of the submarine branch within the German Procurement Office. Since April 1st 2019 he has been assigned as Navy Representative for the submarine procurement project U212CD. Cdr Arjes served twice as Chief of Staff of the German contingent within the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon.
