Mr Robert Been
Robert Been received the M.Sc. degree in applied mathematics from Delft University of Technology, Delft, The Netherlands, in 1990. From 1990 to 1993, he worked as a scientist in the Signal Processing Group of the Physics and Electronics Laboratory in The Hague, The Netherlands, a research institute in the Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research (TNO). From 1993 to 2000, he worked as a scientist in what is currently known as the Underwater Technology Department of TNO Defence, Security and Safety, where he was the Program Manager for low frequency active sonar research. From 2000 to 2006, he was a Senior Engineer in the Advanced Sonar Studies Department of Thales Underwater Systems in Sophia Antipolis, France. In 2006, he joined NURC, a NATO research centre in La Spezia, Italy, where he was a principal scientist and programme manager for anti-submarine warfare related research until December 2012. He was a programme manager of the Engineering Department of the NATO STO Centre for Maritime Research and Experimentation (CMRE), previously called NURC until May 2019. He currently is the Head of the Scientific IT, Software Development and Data Management Department.
